Tom Moriarty (Adamstown Castle ETNS):
“It is about time we had a second level school for our children. I stand 100% behind this campaign!”
Tomás Ó Dúlaing (Griffeen Valley ETNS):
“My heartiest congratulations to the hard-working members of the committee striving to establish a second-level educate together school in Lucan. The launching of the website is an important addition to the work of this committee as it will facilitate the sketching of an outline of what an Educate Together school might look like. The new website will also provide another vehicle through which the very sound arguments for an E.T. second-level school in Lucan can be made. Lucan currently has 4 second level schools [3 Catholic and 1 VEC]. 5 E.T. primary schools graduate children from their ranks each school year and feed them into a second level system which clearly is unreflective of the ethos preferences of these graduates and their parents. This situation is unfair and discriminatory and can not be sustained into the future. Primary schools in Lucan provide a range of choices for parents in terms of ethos - second level schools need do the same, and the provision of an E.T. second-level school in Lucan would represent a considerable step forward in this regard. The school community in Griffeen Valley ETNS looks forward with enthusiasm to an even greater momentum developing behind the campaign for an E.T. second level school and hope the website will be a valuable tool in this ground-breaking work.”
