Green School

The school building will be sustainable, from site, design, materials to energy sources.
The school will endeavour to minimise its environmental impact and its carbon footprint.
The school policy on waste will be based on the “reduce, re-use and recycle” principles.
All learning material will be made from recycled material where possible.
The school and the students will actively engage in eco-projects at all levels. At school level this may be calculating and reducing own or class’ carbon footprint, composting, growing own food, using ITC rather than paper based work.

At local level this can involve a neighbourhood clean-up schemes, selling green Xmas cards/gifts, local environmental awareness campaigns or recycled material art shops for local primary schools.
At national level the students can join campaigns or start one themselves, for instance a tree-planting scheme.
The school will ideally have an active sub-committee of the Board specifically for green issues. A strong student input into this sub-committee is a must, as are realistic powers within the school.
