Letter from Parents in Lucan
Dear Deputy,
I am writing to appeal to you to support, actively, the longstanding campaign for an Educate Together second-level school for the Lucan area. This campaign stretches back 10 years. During this time, we have watched patiently while other second-level school types have been established, while our wishes were ignored.
But we can no longer be patient. Our children are getting older and are fast approaching secondary school age. Currently, there is a mix of second-level school types in Lucan.
Other parents’ choices are well catered for, except for ours. As parents, we have a Constitutional right to choose the educational ethos our children will receive. We choose Educate Together.
Educate Together formally applied for a school on our behalf in March 2008. It is now time to give the go ahead for that second-level school in Lucan.
The time has come to meet the need and the choice demanded by us as parents; namely, a second-level school with an Educate Together ethos.
Yours sincerely,
